Improved delivery conditions and service offerings: With the founding of WMV Surface Technology Inc., WMV is strengthening its presence in the USA and laying the foundation for sustainable, strategic growth in the areas of surface treatment and automation in the USA.
WMV has been represented in the USA since 1999. The Pontiac site in the area of Detroit, Michigan, is now being systematically expanded. The aim is to strengthen market presence, intensify proximity to customers and partners, and bring WMV’s innovative solutions to market even faster.
Expanded production and direct on-site service
“We have been pursuing this vision for a very long time,” says WMV CEO Martin Müller. The establishment of our own production facility for complete electroplating systems using the expertise acquired from company UAS in 2023 already marked an important milestone on the path to further growth in the USA. “Now is the right time to increase our vertical range of manufacture and consistently expand WMV’s service offerings,” said Müller.
With the new General Manager Matt Ulewicz, the expansion of production for WMV plant components for surface treatment and the on-site spare parts warehouse already started step by step on August 25, 2025. This will enable new WMV plants to be introduced to the US market more quickly and cost-effectively, while existing plants can be optimally maintained and spare parts provided in a timely manner. In addition to the existing and highly valued 24/7 hotline, more WMV experts are available on-site to train, advise, and support the people working with the systems.
“I am convinced that the required quality level in the field of surface treatment in the USA will continue to rise in the future. With an increased personal presence and WMV’s 55 years of expertise in engineering, automation, software, and manufacturing, we can efficiently and sustainably support the new growth in the USA as it develops.”

New structures, familiar expertise
To strategically position the site for growth right from the start, the management of WMV Surface Technology Inc. will be led by Matt Ulewicz. He is supported in this by our long-standing colleague on-site Aron Lorenz, who is available to our customers locally with his expertise as contact person and consultant. The team will be further strengthened by Chris Fitzpatrick, who is responsible for technical management. Fitzpatrick has many years of experience in the development and implementation of automated plating solutions for surface treatment.

The engineering of WMV system components will continue to take place in Germany. This ensures that our customers in the US benefit from German engineering with the highest quality standards and technical precision.
If you have any questions about the WMV location in the USA, Martin Müller will be happy to assist you personally.
